Page 1 of 2 By the time you get this, fall has officially started. That means (among other things) that the peak of the hurricane season is past. Don't let down your guard though, October can spawn some bad ones. My point is this, when we had a lot of hurricanes... ...the past two years insurance premiums went sky high. Now a year of much less hurricae activity, will the rates drop? Don't hold your breath waiting, we both know that isn't going to happen. This will be the second month in which the ROTC students from Gulf High have delivered the bulletins. From what we've heard September delivery went very well. We do need people to help put the rubber bands on the bulletins. If some of our former delivery people would volunteer it sure would help. This operation takes place the 4th Friday of the month in the afternoon. All help will be welcomed with open arms. By now everybody should be aware that our head custodian, John Guetschow, had open heart surgery and is not able to resume his job at this time. Along with that the death of assistand custodian, Walter Myer, leaves us with no one with all the knowledge of running the club house. There is a lot more to this than just keeping the place clean. Things are pretty much under control, but please bear with us if there are some minor glitches. You are going to hear a lot about getting more activities going on at Colonial Hills. Your board and officers are working on a number of things such as getting the dances going again, changing the time of the breakfasts and dinners to better accomodate our working residents. Working people don't get home in time to make a 6:00pm closing so we are planning to extend the time to see if working people will come. The same is true of the breakfasts. A lot of people have said we would like to increase the number of card party luncheons to maybe one a month. The hold up is help. So if you ladies would like to be a part of this, I think you should contact Phyllis Toaker and get the details.
