Concerning Wal-Mart

From this objection, 10 of s filed an appeal. We objected to the fact that none of us were informed of the meeting. The county code states that they only have to send one notice, however we are appealing to the moral issue that the code doesn't allow for 6 continuances and 15 months to go by after notification. If the appeal is approved by the county it will send Wal-Mart back to the beginning to reapply and submit new drawings. This will allow the residents of Colonial Hills and anyone else to voice their opinions and objections. If it fails, Wal-Mart goes to the next step of Constructions Plans. We will still have one more chance, but not much time. The appeal is October 24, 2006 at the Little Road Commission location at 6:30. PLEASE COME AND JOIN THE MASS TO OBJECT.

This store was scheduled to be built at Gulf Trace and US 19 in 2003 but was defeated because of zoning issues. They chose this site. A store every 5 miles. With so many so close to each other wich one will close first? What happens when we have another abandoned building at this site? We had Cox Lumber falling down for at least 15 years.

Installation of Speed Bumps on Walmart affected St : cross123
If this Walmart goes up, I would like to request that Speed Bumps be installed on my street and here's why:
I just moved in to the Colonial Hills neighborhood this year with my husband and third grade son. We live on Madison Street right across from Anclote Elementary School. We are the next thru street from Moog to sr54, after Grand. There is even an offical blue street sign on Moog with an arrow pointing the way right up our street to sr54.
Even presently, it appears that no one in our neighborhood is concerned that fast moving traffic is being directed right thru the School Zone. If this Walmart goes up, more traffic will use Madison as an alternate to Grand! I'm afraid that an already dangerous situation for our students will become worse.
I've already seen that cars drive dangerously fast down Madison in spite of the school signs. The corner of Madison and Moog is extremely busy and dangerous for crossing children, even with the crossing guards - drivers are in too much of a hurry to watch for children. It is ridiculous.
Can we petition Walmart and/or the city to install speed bumps on Madison Street and any other streets that will be affected by the Walmart traffic?
