What will 4 cents buy you???????

.... not a candy bar .... not a small soda .... not a postage stamp .... probably nothing except a membership for a day in the Colonial Hills Civic Association. And yet only 176 of the 2200 people in Colonial Hills will spend that amount to guard the safety of their families and the value of their property. Even now as we are facing traffic and safety problems if Wal-Mart becomes part of our community, we are hearing a lot of complaining, a lot of griping, a lot of the worries of our residents, but we aren't hearing a rallying cry to become a strong presence in Colonial Hills.

This Association has some huge financial obligations in the very near future due to the need to replace the roof and the air conditioner. Ahandfull of people work tirelessly to try to meet these obligations but health and age and death itslelf is diminshing that handful. Where are you, folks?? Can you not spare 4 cents a day to be a member? Can you not sacrifice 2 or 3 hours a month to help raise the needed funds? That 4 cents and those 2 or 3 hours can be the best investment you have ever made because this Association can make a difference when it comes to fighting the powers that do not do the work our tax dollars are paying to do. It can put the kind of pressure needed to get rid of eyesores and drug houses. it can demand that there be recreational facilities in our neighborhood so that our young people can play in safety. if you are a retiree, you need to keep the value of your house so that when the time comes, it will be marketable. If you are a young family, you need to build equity so that you can upgrade your home when you need to. If you have children, you must provide them the kind of community which will help them grow strong, confident and free of crime. IS IT WORTH 4 CENTS A DAY AND A COUPLE OF HOURS A MONTH??
