Not Another Wal-Mart

Your Neighbors are working stop an
unnecessary Wal-Mart at
SR54 and Grand Blvd.

This fight is brought to you by...

The concerned Citizens of Colonial Hills
and
Wal-Mart Alliance for
Reform Now (WARN)

WARN is an organization that works with local residents to ensure that proposed Wal-Mart developments are appropriate and beneficial to local communities. Often, that means simply stopping proposed Wal-Marts from being built in places where local residents don't want them -- but not always: WARN's goals in a site fight are determined by the wishes of local residents.

Resistance is Growing

The City Council of New Port Richey decided to PASS a resolution to be sent to the Pasco County Commission opposing the development of the Wal-Mart on Grand Blvd and SR54. The Council's opinions were ver strong about Wal-Mart and Big Box stores. Multiple residents from the City of New Port Richey also showed opposition to big box stores and the effect they have on their City. Safety Now and Residents of Westwood have offered their support. The opposition to this store is growing. Other individuals and organizations are joining the fight......

IT IS VITAL YOU ATTEND
THE OCT 24TH MEETING!

Our Objections:

  • Traffic
  • Crime
  • Lower Property Values
  • Water Runoff
  • Insurance Cost Increases

"I am afraid of what opening a new Walmart on Grand and SR-54 will do to the downtown New Port Richey businesses. The City has spent a lot of money redeveloping the downtown, and bringing n a Walmart this close will definitely make it harder for the businesses downtown to stay in business."

(Jim Smetzer, New Port Richey Business Owner.)

"W
al-Mart it could be as many as 1400 per hour to Grand Blvd, there are 500 between 4&6pm now. We can't get out of our subdivision now--what will happen with 3 times as many cars?"

(Cynthia Besio, appealing the Preliminary Site Plan approval.)

The County Commissioners will rule on the appeal
of the approval of the preliminary site plans.

Attend the meeting being held October 24th at 6:30pm
(7530 Little Rd.)
